When it helps

When you start a list without a template
Not every trip fits a template. Even in a blank list you do not write everything out: the suggestions bring along the words your lists and the templates already know.
When you type on your phone
On a phone keyboard every long word is a chore, all the more when you are standing up. Two letters and a tap on the suggestion are quicker than spelling out “Travel insurance”.
When a thing should always have the same name
Charging cable or charger? Take the suggestion and you write it the same way every time. That helps when you combine templates, because only items spelt the same are merged, and the search finds everything under one name.
When something was missing after the trip
Whatever you add as missing in the review counts as one of your own words from then on. Next time it is suggested ahead of the words from the built-in templates.

How it works

  1. In a section, tap “Add an item”.

  2. Type the first letters.

  3. Tap a suggestion – or keep typing if it is something new.

Eleven items, nine of them with one tap

For a walking weekend in the Lake District you start a blank list with two sections. In “Clothing” you type “so”, and socks are there as a suggestion – one tap, done. The same goes for “rai” for the rain jacket, “wal” for walking boots, “ju” for a jumper and “bea” for a beanie. The list knows these words from the built-in templates, even if you have never written them down yourself.

Good to know

How does the list know my words?
From your own lists and templates and from the built-in templates. What you pack more often comes first.
Does it suggest what is already there?
No. What the section already holds is not suggested again.
